Typing battle royale
Thirty keycaps on the board. Five knockout rounds. Type clean or go grey.

- R5−2
30 typists. 5 rounds. One keyboard left standing.
Each round everyone types the same word string. Your score is net WPM weighted by accuracy; the lowest scores are knocked out: 10, then 8, 6, 3 and 2. The field is seeded around your recent speed, so it stays tense at any level.
Strategy for the knockout rounds
Early rounds cut a third of the field, but the words are short, so a steady clean round is enough. The squeeze comes in rounds four and five, where long words punish every slip. Because the score multiplies speed by an accuracy factor, one typo in a twenty-word string costs roughly what a half-second pause costs; three typos cost more than typing a notch slower.
If you keep going out in round four, spend a few sessions in Word Blitz on Hard: long words are a skill of their own.
Questions players ask
How does the typing battle royale work?
You drop into a field of 30 typists. In each of five rounds everyone types the same word string; after the round the lowest scores are eliminated: 10, then 8, 6, 3 and finally 2, leaving one winner.
How is each round scored?
Net WPM multiplied by an accuracy factor (0.5 + accuracy ÷ 200). At 100% accuracy you keep your full WPM; at 80% you keep 90%. Mashing fast with lots of errors will get you knocked out.
Are the other 29 players real?
They are simulated opponents whose skills are spread around your own recent average, some slower, some faster, with round-to-round form swings. That keeps every battle winnable but never safe.
Do rounds get harder?
Yes. Round 1 uses short common words; rounds 2 and 3 use medium words; the last two rounds use long words and more of them.
